Looking for the latest trend in fitness? Try my no-fail, guaranteed-to-kick-your-ass #cabinlife workout! If you want something that will leave you unable to move for three days after, this is it.

*Please note* this workout is best performed when you’re absolutely desperate to replenish your woodpile and have no other choice but to do it.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: The Warm-Up

Wake those muscles up by crashing through thick forest in search of down and dead trees.

Once you find a few, delimb and cut into 8-10 foot lengths.

Pro tip: To increase the intensity of the workout, pick ones that are ridiculously big and as far away from the cabin as possible.

Step 2: Kick it Up a Notch

Get into the meat of the workout by throwing those logs you just cut over your shoulder and lugging them through the woods, up a rocky hill, and down the other side of said hill.

Ignore the pain, it just lets you know you’re alive.

Bonus points for trying a “shortcut” that leads nowhere and forces you to turn around and double the distance you have to walk.

Finish off the rep by placing the log on the ground with an awkward log-toss type move, or by simply collapsing under its weight and letting it roll off your shoulder.

Pro tip on proper form: Just do what you gotta do to avoid slipping a disc. Like, use your abs or something.

Complete as many reps as you can and then go back for more… the cabin isn’t going to heat itself you know…

Step 3: The Cool Down

Once you’ve got a good supply stocked for the winter, cool down by standing in place until your legs stop shaking.

Follow up with a post-workout recovery beer (I mean, you are still at the lake, right?)

We helped, right?

Switch it Up!

For a fun obstacle course feel, bring two dogs along who will drop branches on your path to create extra tripping hazards, stop dead in their tracks directly in front of you while you have a good pace going, and step on your heels while you’re climbing the steepest hill sections. So fun! So, so fun.

I hope you enjoyed my new training program! Share your post-workout injuries… I mean post-workout shred pics using #cabinlifeworkout
