If you’re looking to hatch out a brood of quail, you might be wondering the best place to source fertile quail eggs for hatching.

Quail eggs can be slightly harder to find than chicken or duck eggs so I thought I’d share my recommendations for the best places to find fertile hatching eggs.

BREEZY BIRD FARMS

I’m located in Saskatchewan, Canada and I did not know anyone else raising quail locally, so I took to the internet to source some eggs.

Breezy Bird Farms is located in Manitoba, Canada and specializes in heritage and exotic poultry species. They have a wide range of chicken breeds and specialty species like guinea fowl and quail which makes them a great source for not only quail but also for some of those breeds and species that are otherwise hard to find. They ship hatching eggs Canada-wide.

I have ordered hatching quail eggs twice from Breezy Bird Farms and have nothing but good things to say. The eggs arrived well-packaged, and we had excellent hatch rates despite the fact that they were shipped.

I am in no way affiliated with the company, but I would highly recommend ordering from Breezy Bird if you’re not able to source local hatching eggs.

LOCAL SOURCES OF FERTILE QUAIL EGGS

You may be able to source fertile quail eggs from local feed stores, but since they are a more specialty species, they may not carry them. If you’re looking for a local source of fertile quail eggs, I recommend networking with and finding other people in your area with a flock.

Some good places to find local quail raisers include:

  • Kijiji
  • Facebook Groups
  • Local Farmer’s Markets

Oftentimes, locals who sell quail eggs for eating will also have fertile quail eggs available for hatching, so be sure to reach out to anyone selling eggs and ask.
